The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for one full-time NTT (teaching) faculty position in its Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department (http://www.cse.uta.edu). This opening is for a position that starts in the Spring 2020 semester. The successful candidate is expected to have strong teaching and communication skills, and should have the technical capabilities and knowledge to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in one or more specialization areas of computer engineering, computer science, or software engineering. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. We will accept applications until the position is filled. We will start reviewing applications on October 20, 2019.

Qualifications

Candidates must have earned an MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related area. All candidates must show a strong commitment to teaching excellence, and should share the university’s core values of fostering an open and inclusive environment that promotes diversity and participation of groups that are currently underrepresented in engineering fields.

The University, College, and Department

CSE is part of the College of Engineering (CoE) at UTA, one of the largest engineering colleges in Texas (https://www.uta.edu/engineering). Active research areas include databases/big data, data mining/machine learning, cloud computing, networks, mobile and pervasive computing, IoT, computer vision, security and privacy, bioinformatics and biomedical computing, robotics, and artificial intelligence applications. CSE faculty members actively pursue collaborations and funding opportunities. The department has interdisciplinary projects with UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, University of North Texas Health Science Center in Ft. Worth, UT Arlington’s Research Institute (UTARI), the School of Nursing, and the College of Science, among others.

The CSE department has been growing rapidly in the last 5 years. Our Fall 2019 enrollment reached a record number of students, including approximately 1600 BS, 900 MS, and 140 PhD students. CSE has strong support from the College of Engineering and UTA administration. Its friendly environment and excellent support staff help incoming faculty and students feel at home and thrive.
