MISSION:The Industrial Advisory Board provides a forum for communication between the Computer Science and Engineering Department and industry. The goal is to create mutual benefits by helping the Department improve its programs with respect to the needs of industry, by promoting brand awareness of the Department and the Board members, and by assisting fundraising and development efforts to support educational and research activities in the Department.
STRUCTURE: The Board consists of the following three committees:
- Industry Committee: This committee consists of members that are recognized leaders of industry, non-profit organizations and government agencies. This committee has a Chair and Vice Chair that are elected by the committee members.
- Faculty Committee: This committee consists of faculty members that are appointed by the Department. This committee has a Chair and Vice Chair that are appointed by the Department Chair.
- Executive Committee: This committee is the leadership committee that consists of the Department Chair and the Chairs and Vice Chairs of the Industry and Faculty committees. The Department Chair serves as the Chair of the Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee formulates the policy and operating procedures for the Board. In particular, the Executive Committee establishes an agenda for each meeting, and appoints action items that will be implemented by the Industry and Faculty Committee.
Members of the Board normally serve staggered, four-year terms. Officers serve for periods of two years. Appointments for extended or subsequent terms may be made as circumstances warrant.
MEETING: The Board meets as a body at least once and normally twice per year (Fall and Spring). Subcommittees and Executive Committee meet as required. A quorum consists of 1/3 of the total membership, or their proxies.
Ademola Peter Adejokun, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company
Ademola Adejokun has substantial and broad experience base, designing and implementing improvements to system and software engineering products, practices, and development environments. His expertise includes: software design and development, systems integration and diagnostics techniques, automated forensics, development tool automation, avionics simulation, cyber physical systems and System Security engineering, process improvement and project management.Ademola is a senior member of ACM, IEEE and serves on the NCEES Software Engineering Professional Engineer Licensure Exam committee. He is a registered Professional Engineer (Texas), a certified Project Management Professional and was the recipient of the 2016 IEEE-USA Professional Achievement Award for his contributions to IEEE professional activities and for his efforts to professionalize software engineering.

Susan J. Bowles, State Farm Insurance
Susan Bowles is a UTA Alumni, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from the College of Business in 1987. She has been employed with State Farm for 32 years, 19 of those years in IT. She has earned the following Insurance and Financial Services designations: CPCU, CLU and FLMI.Susan relocated back to the DFW area in 2015, after residing in Bloomington, Illinois for the past 19 yrs. Susan works in the new State Farm CityLine facility in Richardson, TX, and is the UTA Campus Recruiting Manager for State Farm.Susan is married, has 4 grown children, and owns a Financial Coaching business on the side.
Ronald E. Cross, L-3 Link Simulation & Training
Ronald E. Cross is a retired Director of Engineer from L-3 Link Simulation & Training. He has over 36 years of experience in Commercial and Aerospace/Defense Engineering developing commercial and aerospace/military products. His experiences include managing design & development organizations as large as 600 individuals. The program areas he has supported include telecommunication shelters, aircraft modification, and simulation & training. Currently he is teaching at UTA in the College of Engineering Computer Science Department as an Adjunct Professor.
Amber Halpin, Elbit Systems of America
Amber Halpin is a technical project manager in the defense and aerospace industry where she is responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring and control, and overall cost, schedule and technical performance of a project’s engineering effort. After many years writing embedded firmware for the telecommunications industry, she transitioned to defense and enjoy the shared sense of mission and core values. On a regular basis, she works with people outside her department, site and country and manage multiple projects simultaneously, from proposal to project closeout.
Eknauth Persaud, Ayoka L.L.C
Eknauth Persaud serves as CEO at Ayoka, L.L.C. and is responsible for performing engineering services, technical due diligence services and overseeing key operations at the company. His background includes management and technical experience at Siemens Energy and Automation, Tellabs (formerly Advanced FibreCommunications) and Lockheed Martin (formerly IBM Federal Systems). Eknauth holds a B.S. and M.S. in Civil & Transportation Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), with his graduate research in expert systems (artificial intelligence) development to improve and accelerate civil engineering design processes. Eknauth served in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) from 1990 to 1997, including active duty and reserve service, in the infantry and is jump (airborne) qualified.

Justin Thomas, Decision Analyst Inc.
Justin is a Vice President of IT for Decision Analyst. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Texas at Arlington and has spent over 20 years developing software. Justin is primarily responsible for architecting and implementing interactive data analysis platforms, client facing dashboards, and automated reporting solutions. In a secondary capacity, Justin collaborates with the rest of the IT staff on implementing open source software solutions at Decision Analyst. Prior to Decision Analyst, Justin worked as a Programmer Analyst at Perot Systems based in Plano, Tx.
Feng Albert Yang, Topaz Labs
Dr. Feng (Albert) Yang is the founder and president of Topaz Labs, a photo enhancement software company located in Addison, TX. A long-time entrepreneur and expert in video and signal processing, he co-founded a Silicon Valley semiconductor company, Fortemedia Inc. and served as its CTO for 5 years. Dr. Yang was also a founding member and CTO of Techwell, Inc, a video enhancement semiconductor company which went IPO in 2006. Early in his career, Dr. Yang developed real-time and DSP software at Nortel, other private corporations, and taught/research at Harbin Institute of Technology in China. Dr. Yang received his Ph.D. in System Design Engineering at University of Waterloo, Canada.
